In the first half of 2024, there were 16.8 million newly registered motor vehicles and 13.97 million newly licensed drivers nationwide.
As of the end of June, the total number of new energy vehicles in China reached 24.72 million, of which 18.134 million were pure electric vehicles. In the first half of the year, 4.397 million new energy vehicles were newly registered, a year-on-year increase of 39.41%, reaching a historic high.
The number of motor vehicle drivers in China has reached 532 million, of which 496 million are car drivers. In the first half of 2024, the number of newly licensed drivers nationwide was 13.97 million, a year-on-year increase of 17.36%.
The number of automobiles in 96 cities across the country has exceeded 1 million, an increase of 8 cities compared to the same period last year. 43 cities have exceeded 2 million vehicles, and 26 cities have exceeded 3 million vehicles. Among them, the car ownership in Chengdu, Beijing, and Chongqing exceeds 6 million, while the car ownership in Shanghai, Suzhou, and Zhengzhou exceeds 5 million.
In the first half of the year, a total of 17.52 million motor vehicle transfer registration transactions were processed nationwide. Among them, 16.26 million car transfer registration transactions were processed, a year-on-year increase of 53.79%. There were 2.706 million transactions of second-hand small passenger cars registered in different regions across the country, and the second-hand car trading market is active. There were 53.07 million online transactions nationwide, including the replacement and issuance of driver’s licenses and driving permits, as well as the issuance of temporary license plates.
